Additional electric drive

Bafang mid-engines as retrofit kits are modular and simple. They are also suitable for the Nordic Trikes or especially quads, regardless of whether equipped with a hand-drive or not. They have several advantages:

  • the mid-engine is simply used in a standard BSA travel bearings. It can be provided with almost any size of chainrings.
  • Bafang runs with virtually every 36 V battery without any communication problems. The battery must of course have its own battery management system (BMS).
  • There are many other additional parts, such as hydraulic brake switches or similar.

Although the Bafang engine can also be supplied with higher power than 250 W, we have deliberately refrained from having to use too large and heavy batteries. In addition, the trike remains a bicycle.



From Wernigerode to the Brocken (Harz mountains) it is about 25 km with almost 1,000 metres of altitude. Our quad with hand drive and 250 W Bafang motor has approx. 800 Wh consumed from two batteries.  The largest electrical base (250 W) was hired almost continuously, so that the ride remained a "senior pleasure ride".
